After helping an old man load his groceries into his vehicle, Liz is taken. After three long years of brutal captivity, she is able to escape, but her world, thinking she was dead, seems to have gone on without her. Those people Liz was the closest to, those the memories of which kept her going through her ordeal have moved on.
Now Liz finds she must pivot and try to reinvent a life where she can be happy again. She must find new people to surround herself with that she can count on, but things keep happening to her and her new friends. It soon becomes evident to Liz that it is her former abductor. The police seem indifferent to her plight, and the effort they put in on her behalf is minimal. As the incidents escalate, with little headway being made in the case, Liz attempts to stay strong.
Will Liz be able to persevere through it all with her newfound strength and hold on to those dear to her and the new life she has forged, or will her tormentor get the best of her?

★★★★★ A Good Read with Real, Relatable Characters
This book relates to the real emotions many of us feel … the deeply-held
fear that many women have of being abducted and powerless … and it also
captures the richness of true friendship, love and the strength and
power that lies within us to overcome adversity and rebuild. This book
was truly a labor of love for the author Brenda Morgan. Will be eagerly
watching for what is next in her writing career. -Cheryl Kilborn
★★★★★ Gripping & Suspenseful!
What a fantastic debut novel! This book kept me in suspense from beginning to end. I could hardly put it down and finished it in about a day. I absolutely adored Liz and the development of her friendships and other relationships throughout the story. Since this book is set near my rural Michigan location, I enjoyed the familiarity of the descriptions and locations in the book. I truly am looking forward to reading Brenda’s next book! -Jill D.
★★★★★ Recommended Reading
I don’t usually read fiction, but I’m glad I did! The author and I shared a High School. But that did not bias my opinion of her book. This is a great read, and great plot. Creative, interesting, and worth many evenings of entertainment. Engrossing. I’m looking forward to (hopefully) another book. Thank you Brenda, for the opportunity to read your new volume. It was great! -Marnie Basney
